Ram Trucks Moves to ‘Step up to the New Standard’

Ram is changing the way people think about trucks.

More people are switching to Ram than ever before and in a new campaign called “Step up to the New Standard” debuting to align with Ram Truck Month, in a series of spots that showcase how Ram is challenging convention in the truck segment.  A 30-second spot in the campaign, “The Truck You Need” celebrates the brand’s sales climb to #2 pickup in the country by continuing to lead the way and on delivering the performance, luxury, comfort and safety features that more and more truck customers are looking for.

The  campaign highlights key third-party accolades and awards across the lineup that reflect this new standard. Back-to-back Motor Trend awards for Best Truck of the Year and Cars.com choice for 2020 Luxury Car of the Year. The Ram 1500 was the first truck ever to win this award. In 2019, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) also gave the Ram 1500 its highest possible ratings in each of the six crashworthiness tests.

Some of the most compelling features cited in the accolades that make the Ram 1500 and HD models so attractive and appealing include twice the interior storage capacity offered by the competition, a unique multifunction tailgate that gives greater flexibility for easy loading and unloading, a smooth, comfortable ride thanks to a segment-exclusive link-coil rear suspension system, and a cabin interior that surrounds driver and passengers in true luxury with premium wood, leather, metal and chrome finishes in the 2020 1500 Longhorn and Limited trims. The Uconnect 4C system offers the segment’s first 12-inch touchscreen with split-screen technology, 360-degree camera views and Sirius XM with Personalized Stations Powered by Pandora.

With the launch of the “Step Up to the New Standard” initiative, the Ram Truck brand is taking the next big step forward in showing truck customers they really can have it all— a vehicle with class-leading capability and performance combined with true luxury and comfort.

Hi, I’m Betty Carrier Newman. I know – three names! Just who does she think she is? I’m a native Michigander; therefore, I love all things outdoors, like hiking and off-roading. I work in Communications with the Digital Media team. Some days I produce video shoots, write scripts, voice and edit video for features to post to our corporate and social media sites. Other times I’m strategizing with the brands I support – Ram, Jeep and Corporate – to come up with attention-grabbing ways to tell their unique stories. Then there’s the travel - to places like Moab, Utah, and the Rubicon Trail in California - to shoot (and enjoy) awesome off-road adventure that I then turn into exciting videos to post on our sites. Routine? Definitely not in my world! Challenges, creativity, cool cars and trucks, exciting places – yeah, they’re in there! Oh, the three names? In an earlier life I was hired as the first major-market female TV co-anchor for the NBC affiliate in Detroit – Channel 4. My name was Betty Carrier back then – until I married and added the ‘Newman.’ That’s my story and, yes, I’m really enjoying my FCA ride!
