Jeep brand goes small with lots of sizzle

With Oscar night 2014 excitement now in the rearview mirror, the automotive scene is gearing up to showcase some bright new stars at the Geneva Motor Show.

The rumor mill’s been abuzz for months over what Jeep would bring to the party.

Wonder no more!

On Tuesday, the Jeep brand amped up the show’s already heightened level of excitement with the unveiling of the 2015 Jeep Renegade. Wearing a smaller stance and showing plenty of sizzle, the brand’s first entry into the global small SUV segment shares its footprint with the Fiat 500L.

When it comes to DNA, though, Renegade is all Jeep – from the iconic front seven-slot grille to the aggressive approach and departure angles and trapezoidal wheel arches, to the “X” form tail lamps inspired by Jeep’s military heritage. Rugged on the outside, while refined on the inside with soft touches throughout, some very clever storage features, a unique center vent “air-pod,” and a nod to extreme sports in the anodized accents.

The trail-rated Jeep Renegade Trailhawk is at home taking in the city sights and tackling extreme off-road challenges anywhere in the world with the segment’s first rear-axle and power transfer unit disconnect for 4×2 fuel efficiency and traction when needed.

More than 70 available safety and security features include up to seven standard air bags including seat-mounted side pelvic-thorax and full-length side-curtain air bags.

Sixteen powertrain combinations and the segment’s first nine-speed automatic transmission round out the 2015 Jeep Renegade’s readiness to compete on a global scale.

Renegade may be the brand’s smallest model, but its sense of adventure encompasses more than 100 markets around the world. Good things really do come in small packages!
