2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia lineup debuts in the Big Apple

The full line of Alfa Romeo Giulia models is making its debut at the New York International Auto Show.

The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Giulia Ti made their North American debut in New York during the press preview days, rounding out Alfa Romeo’s Giulia lineup. These models join the “halo” model in the lineup, the Giulia Quadrifoglio, which was introduced in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

These new premium, mid-size sedans feature Italian style, technology and craftsmanship along with new “beautiful design elements” found only in an Alfa Romeo.

“From the new Giulia and Giulia Ti models, to the ultra-high performance Quadrifoglio model, each Alfa Romeo sedan delivers class-leading power and handling, the pedigree of incredible technology and race-inspired performance, plus design and style that could only be crafted in Italy,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Alfa Romeo – North America.

The Giulia is the first of eight all-new Alfa Romeo vehicles the brand will debut through 2020, and is the latest step in the rebirth of the Alfa Romeo brand in North America. The iconic Italian sports car brand returned to North America in 2014 at the New York Auto Show with the debut of all-new 2015 Alfa Romeo 4C coupe.

“This is a big show for us in New York,” said Pieter Hogeveen, Head of Alfa Romeo Marketing & Communications North America. “We are bringing our volume models to North America.”

The new Giulia and Giulia Ti models continue Alfa Romeo’s legacy of offering world-class performance with advanced technologies. These two new models come with an available, all-new, all-aluminum 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo engine, which delivers 0-60 mph acceleration in less than 5.5 seconds.

Also available in the new models is the all-new widescreen Alfa-tainment Connect widescreen infotainment system. The system comes in either the 6.5-inch, or the larger 8.8-inch size, which offers an array of features “hidden” in the instrument panel.

Alfa Romeo is also giving the Giulia its newest generation eight-speed automatic transmission, and will debut the world’s first integrated braking system in the Giulia for “even more instantaneous braking responsiveness.”

“The 2017 Giulia lineup marks Alfa Romeo’s return to the heart of the premium sedan segment and the next chapter of the brand’s rich 105-year heritage,” Bigland added.

Hello from the Motor City! I’m Edward Cardenas and I’m multimedia editor for Stellantis. As a lifelong Detroiter, I have been surrounded by the automotive industry. I’ve had members of my immediate and extended family work in the industry. I’ve covered it as a journalist and advocated for it as a communications professional. I have also experienced the thrills of the industry while riding in a race car at nearly 200 miles per hour. Having this breadth of experience, I look forward to drawing upon my experiences to bring a wide range of stories, photos and videos about Chrysler, FIAT and Alfa Romeo to Stellantis Digital Media. When I’m not covering my brands, I’m spending time with my wife and two boys.
