The Jeep Girls search for the stars

Brittany and Ashley with red Jeep

There is something very magnificent about California.  The weather is always sunny, the style bright and the people are a lot of fun.

Brittany and I jumped in our Jeep Wrangler and went on a road trip. After packing our Wrangler with road trip snacks from Trader Joe’s, our first stop was Hollywood.  After seeing an amazing blueish green shooting star right above the city lights just outside of Indio, we knew we were in for a wonderful adventure, among the Hollywood stars.

Just before our Jeep Wrangler turned into a pumpkin at midnight, we checked into the newly renovated Hollywood Hotel, which is in the heart of Hollywood. Originally built in 1903, this hotel has a lot of style and character. The rooms are spacious, the staff is very friendly and the amenities are wonderful. The hotel offers complimentary WiFi and a fabulous international breakfast with fresh made-to-order omelets and waffles. The hotel is even pet friendly, so your pups can come on the adventure with you.

After a great night’s rest, I looked outside our window and found the Hollywood Sign in the near distance.  We spent the morning planning our day while sipping coffee and nibbling on the delicious chocolate croissants from the international breakfast buffet.

After spending the day downtown, we headed back to the Hollywood Hotel where we were greeted with The Tickle Your Funny Bone Package, which included the staycation survival kit, the open mic show in the hotel’s 1160 Lounge, and a food and beverage credit. The open mic show was fantastic! The shows are complimentary and featured every Thursday-Sunday starting at 7 p.m. As you are in Hollywood among the stars, keep your eyes peeled as celebrities do drop in on occasion to watch and perform.

After a night of great laughs, we packed up our Jeep Wrangler and headed to La Jolla for a few days to relax. Located just outside of downtown San Diego, La Jolla has so much to offer.  There is a friendly vibe in the air that allows you to enjoy the ocean breeze and smile at the sunshine.

Before heading home on our California adventure, we made one last stop to explore Palm Springs. We drove a quick two hours from La Jolla to Palm Springs and checked in to the beautiful and spacious Hyatt Palm Springs. It is the only all-suite hotel in the area, and it’s also very pet friendly!

We dropped our bags in our room and headed to the Share Restaurant and Lounge for dinner. I had the filet mignon and mashed potatoes and Brit had the chicken with pesto gnocchi. In the spirit of winter, we love the feeling of a good home-cooked, hearty meal while on the road. We sat outside by the fire enjoying a cool winter Palm Springs evening.

We woke up early to the wonderful smell of bacon and beautiful views of the San Jacinto Mountains on our balcony. We had breakfast inspired by newly appointed Executive Chef James Wallace. I had the West Coast crab omelet and Brittany tried the goat cheese scramble.

After many cups of delicious coffee, we took a stroll down Palm Canyon Drive and popped into the Trina Turk flagship store to check out the latest prints and collections from the 20th year anniversary of Trina Turk.

Downtown Palm Springs is amazing! There are so many cute shops, restaurants, and the architecture is so neat. Visiting Palm Springs is like visiting the best preserved time capsule. It is literally a sparkling jewel in the desert. The weather is incredible and the buildings have a lot of character. Across the street from the Hyatt Palm Springs, we found a lot full of classic cars. Naturally, we gravitated toward all of the Jeep vehicles. Our new favorite is the Jeepster Commando!

We cannot wait to come back to California and go on another adventure … maybe next time in a Jeepster Commando!
